“We have 2 former members of that command on the staff of the Medical Examiner’s office who have advised us that the command’s expertise is searching for missing soldiers, not bone fragments. We have the best possible people working through the weekend on this effort, many of whom worked at the site and Fresh Kills after 9/11. It is being done with the greatest care and respect.”

General update:

“The Medical Examiner’s Office, NYPD, and the FDNY have been on site all day working with Con Ed, Verizon and the Port Authority. They have identified additional locations that need to be searched and have already begun to carefully remove material to an area where the Medical Examiner’s staff will carefully sift through all of it. This effort will continue through the weekend and into next week.”
